Thanks for your input. I was inspired by your original idea, and I think I will continue my attempts to improve upon it. You are right – the CSS-exclusive method did consume additional screen space, which is why I opted for the little link button.

I ended up removing it because a fixed comment form naturally meant sacrificing screen space to pull it off. In the end, it was just easier to ditch it altogether. I’ve always had it in the back of my mind to reintroduce it in a fresh new way but I haven’t felt inspired enough to do so.
